History of the brand

2006 Jeep presents the Jeep Commander – the first 7-seat Jeep SUV on the Grand Cherokee platform with new Quadra-Drive II transmission. In this all-wheel drive system the redistribution of the torque between the front and rear axis is controlled by electronics and occurs quicker than in the existing analog systems. Thus up to 100% of the torque may be transferred to any wheel. Launch of Jeep Compass created on the basis of the concept with the same name, for the first time presented at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt in 2005. Completely new model of the brand possesses configuration and functionality of SUV cars, combining these qualities with characteristics, handling, fuel efficiency and price of a compact car. Compass is the first car of the Jeep brand constructed on a front-wheel platform, with independent front and rear suspension that provides smooth ride and handling, and driving pleasure to the driver. All versions of the car have the all-wheel drive. Presentation of Grand Cherokee SRT8 with HEMI engine – this is the fastest and most powerful Jeep of all cars of this brand; acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes less than 5 seconds. Appreciating the enthusiasm of its admirers, Jeep brand always remains on the crest of events, offering unique opportunities for testing of vehicles during various events which are carried out in different countries under names ‘Jeep Experience Day’ and ‘Jeep Camp’.
2007 Jeep presents the updated legend – new Jeep Wrangler. Now the car is produced not only in the 3-door variant, but also with five doors. Boundless opportunities and the real freedom are waiting for each owner of Wrangler or Wrangler Unlimited. In the middle of 2007 Chrysler (Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge brands) again becomes an independent company with the revived "Pentastar" logo which is the symbol of success of the brand. CJSC “Chrysler RUS” company is formed in Russia, which is the general importer of Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge cars.
2008 New Jeep Cherokee appears in the automobile market; the car is available with two engines – gasoline V6 3.7L and 2.8L CRD diesel engine.
2009 Chrysler Group LLC company is created - global strategic alliance with Fiat. It is based on the culture of innovations traditional for Chrysler – which was started by Walter P. Chrysler – and the modern Fiat technologies. The new alliance possesses resources, technologies and worldwide network of dealers and distributors – everything necessary for the successful competition in the world market. The Chrysler Group LLC company produces cars and automobile components under Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge and Mopar® brands.
