New Jeep® Cherokee

Innovation and freedom outline the future of this legendary American brand.

Jeep® is announcing the start of sales of one of the main premieres of the Geneva Motor Show: on 23 May, the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee will appear at official Jeep® dealers in Russia. The new generation Jeep Cherokee boasts a refreshed elegant style and is the first mid-size SUV with rear-axle disconnect.

The new car’s main distinguishing features are:

  • New exterior and interior design
  • New front-wheel drive configuration and two innovative four-wheel drive systems: Jeep® Active Drive I and Jeep® Active Drive Lock with locking rear differential
  • New 3.2-litre V-6 Pentastar engine producing 272 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque and a 2.4-litre Tigershark MultiAir I-4 engine (177 horsepower and 229 Nm)
  • 9-speed automatic gearbox
  • Parallel and perpendicular parking assist, adaptive cruise control (optional)
  • Wireless Charging Pad, full-color 7-inch reconfigurable TFT instrument cluster and Uconnect with 8.4-inch color touchscreen and navigation (as standard or as an optional extra depending on versions)
  • 5-star rated by Euro NCAP
  • The new Jeep Cherokee will be available in four trim levels: Sport, Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is engineered to ensure benchmark on- and off-road capabilities under all driving conditions. The rear-axle disconnect option (for when four-wheel drive is not needed) helps reduce energy loss and improve fuel efficiency. The rear-axle disconnect seamlessly switches between two- and four-wheel drive for full-time torque management without requiring input from the driver.

The new Jeep Cherokee is equipped with the most innovative four-wheel drive systems. Jeep® Active Drive I features a fully automatic, single power transfer unit and delivers seamless operation in and out of four-wheel drive at any speed. The Trailhawk version comes equipped with Jeep® Active Drive Lock. This is a two-speed PTU with torque management and low range, supplemented with a locking rear differential for superior low-speed power delivery.

Jeep Cherokee was awarded the prestigious five stars in Euro NCAP testing with a total score of 83/100 (92% for adult protection, 79% for child protection, 67% for pedestrian protection and 74% for assistance safety systems).

The new Jeep Cherokee model range will be available in the following versions:
Sport (2.4-liter, FWD, from 1,420,000 rubles; AWD, from 1,530,000), Longitude (2.4-liter, AWD, from 1,630,000), Trailhawk (2.4-liter AWD, 1,830 000), Limited (2.4-liter, AWD, from 1,850,000; 3.2-liter, AWD, from 1,990,000).

Jeep Cherokee owners will also have access to a unique on-road assistance program developed with the involvement of Jeep partner dealerships and based on the results of consumer research. Jeep® is the only car brand to include unique privilege services in its standard on-road assistance package: for the entire period of ownership, customers can use the services of an accident assistant and the Pick&Go service, which guarantees a comfortable transport solution in the event of any breakdowns or emergencies.

“Jeep always has been and remains a symbol of style, dynamism, power and best-in-class off-road capabilities. The new Jeep Cherokee and on-road assistance program demonstrate the special attention to the needs and preferences of customers that allows Jeep to remain the market leader,” said Giorgio Gorelli, CEO, Chrysler RUS.
